Game vs. Parma 10/22

Well played game vs better foe. We'll get them in the springSunday saw a great effort by the dinosaurs, only to be undone by Parma's experience and a handful of balls that bounced the wrong way. Parma's first goal came off when their man was left with plenty of space to find a bit of dry land within the mud--the shot was well placed to the back post. City fought back, missing several chances while Tim kept the back of the net empty with some saves that had those on the sidelines wondering who this flying monster of a goalie was. It was all for naught... we did see a well struck shot by Meshesha late in the game, as well as fire blazing out of George's eyes as he went forward on and on, unable to break Parma's defense. Once Parma placed the ball in our net for the fourth time, the gaffer decided to give Tim a rest, keep his goals against avg down, and Juan thus pulled on his goalie shorts and went and got muddy while making a couple of pretty decent saves. A loss, yet not a stinging loss. No shame in losing to a better side while playing your balls off. Next week, Middletown Inter, an away game... and the best chance this season to see, JCFC's starting 11 for the first time together on the pitch

Game vs Essex United 10/15

JCFC improves to 3 wins, 2 defeats, 1 tie.JCFC again flexed its muscle on the road defeating Essex United 4 goals to 2 in South Orange, NJ. JCFC took the early lead on Sebastian's first goal of the game. Shortly thereafter, Sebastian capitalized on a goalie error, when, conveniently, he fucked up a clear, and the ball went right back to Sebastian who flipped it over the keepers head into the goal. Thanks Keep. Essex fought back when they fired a rebound from twenty two yards out to close the gap to 2 to 1. But, JCFC determined not to play with their heads down, scored another goal when Mesh capitalized before the half. Essex was able to close the gap again when on a corner kick, they scored on a head ball. JCFC scrambled to keep the ball out of the net. Late in the game, their keeper mishandled a shot by George, JCFC was awarded a corner kick. Assane placed the ball beautifully and George knocked it home for the security goal. Notes: We gave up another corner kick goal. Though, corners on that short side to side field are more difficult to defend. 50/50 balls were not won in the 2nd half as much in the first half. Road record is now 3 wins and 1 defeat. Unbelievably, JCFC has never trailed at half (4 leads, 2 tie). Too bad we don't play 45 minute games.

Vs. FC Dynamo 10/8

Despite a makeshift defensive unit, JCFC was a formidable task for FC Dynamo to beat. FCD nearly scored on a few well played balls, but thanks to the goal post, the game remained zero vs. zero at halftime. Not to be forgotten, JCFC had several opportunities to have some chances also. Going into the 2nd half, JCFC were determined to win the mid field. The first 10 to 15 minutes was dominated by JCFC. Carlos provided a golden opportunity, as he picked up the ball in the left mid field and perfectly placed the ball to Mesh who beat two defenders and the goalie for the lead goal. Unfortunately, FCD was able to begin to apply pressure the last 16 minutes and scored on two beautiful goals. With the score tied at 1, George near posted a shot that may have changed the outcome. Mesh has two goals on the season and has provided JCFC with a good threat to score at any moment. Sean made some really nice plays at the defender position, along with George anchoring the middle. Tim was again solid in goal. Tim has provided a stability in goal and that is so key to an up and coming team like JCFC. Next week is Essex United at home, we can win this game. With the improved play of our middle and forwards, JCFC is looking to go to a 4 4 2 next game. Parma defeated Bayonne 4 to zero. A Parma player said they were the weakest team they faced. Parma has also beaten FC Dynamo 2 to 1 and Lacey 3 to 1, and tied Middletown.

Game Vs Monmouth 10/1

JC 2 MC 0Even rain couldn't prevent the determined Merchantiers from Jersey City from taking 3 points home with them. JCFC dominated the first 25 minutes of the first half, controlling most of the action on the Monmouth clubs half. Finally, a ball was centered and Gerard one touched it into the net from about 5 yards out. The rain continued for most of the game. In the second half, Mesh capitalized on an error by a Monmouth defender and raced in toward the goal, beating the goalkeeper and sliding the ball to Steve who nailed it into the back of the net from 1 yard out. Congratulations to Tim who made a key stop toward the last 15 minutes of the game and captured the shutout. Merchant Dave played excellent in leading the stellar defense. 2 wins, 1 tie, 1 loss: 7 points, Plus 3 goal advantage. 8 goals scored / 5 goals given. 7 different goal scorers. Seb (2); Larry (1); Steve (1); Mesh (1); Gerard (1); Juan (1); George (1). Two road victories, both by a 2 goal differential. FYI. Parma vs. Montgomery was canceled. Reason, they didn't want their little toes to get wet. Wee Cunts. Next week, FC Dynamo away, a game I am sure that FCD thinks they will roll through since the won the scrimmage this past summer, lets show them otherwise.
