JCFC Merchantier Dinosaurs domnate and win

On a sunny and humid morning at Elizabeth's Brophy Park. JCFC faced a skilled Central Espanol team, newly formed as a breakaway from US Parma's last season’s campaign. JCFC went into the game with confidence as the last meeting vs. then league-leading Parma resulted in City's best games of the season, followed by a an off-season friendly that resulted d in the first summer win for City when CE showed with a questionable keeper.City got the first strike in, on a swift service from George on the right blank, as the ball was not handled by the CE keeper, Seba got his head onto he ball which found Larry's tapping it in to the back of the net. JCFC 1-0 Central Espanol.Central Espanol fought hard to tie it up at 1 all with a vicious delivery from 25 yards out that left the city keeper flailing at the streaking ball.JCFC 1-1 Central EspanolJCFC took exception and quickly returned the favor when another Gorgeous George cross off from a free kick found its way to the far left post and Shesh headed the ball off the bounce into the back of the net. JCFC 2-1 Central EspanolThe match then took a slightly humorous route, as Jesse "The Hammock" Mallen, near the midfield stripe on the left flank, cleared a high ball towards the box, all on the pitch clearly heard the Central Espanol keeper shout out "I’ve got it covered" only to see the ball bounced over his head and into the back of the net. It was around this time in the match that the sidelines turned into laughter as Jerry "Columbus" Schubert was seen climbing over the far wall looking for a lost ball and Barry "BFM" Morgan was head to remark, "..There goes Columbus exploring..." JCFC 3-1 Central EspanolNearing the end of the first half, a key moment occurred as a CE defender over challenged Joe "Irish Jose" O'Beirn and continued with additional lip service for the referee. The Espanol player, who turned out to be their captain received a yellow for the head but and subsequent yellow, resulting in a red card, for bickering with the ref.JCFC opened up the half with confidence, a 3-1 score and one man advantage. CE showed their desperation to catch up and bring it to within one at least. JCFC valiantly fought off the attack as its defense began to tighten up as it became used to the tight confines of the pitch. As CE continued to attack and bring man forward, City gave a breather to it starters to keep them fresh for the last fifteen. The match nearly turned ugly, as the Gaffer, in at the top looking for a score himself, was caught by a flying elbow to the mouth by CE's defending giant, but as the ref swallowed his whistle, the lack of call and taste of his own blood prompted a quick and devastating tackle by Hidalgo that put the CE man up in the air and onto the ground for a few minutes. City players quickly called for the gaffer to step off and cool off, and off he went only to receive a yellow card, not for the tackle, but for substituting without permission from the man in black. City countered again and again in the second half, only to be called, on toss'em up calls for offside, until in the late stages of the 2nd half Jerry "The Beast" took a ball down the right flank, drew the two defenders to him and slyly crossed it into the path of an oncoming Shesh, who calmly slipped the ball past the rogue goalkeeper for JCFC's fourth and final goal.JCFC 4-1 Central EspanolMan of the Match. A difficult decision this week, as there were many outstanding contributions in all areas. Mallen, Guerin, Schubert, Donohoe were all nominated. The gaffer nominated BFM for it was his lineup and game plan that laid out the opportunity. Thus the game of the match, JCFC. Pints for everyone.
