Two days since training.. Feeling sore

Was good to see all the new one faces, as well as the familiar, albeit older faces—considering we are reorganizing over a short period of time, we had a very good training session this past Wednesday. Great turnout!

Outside of some blisters, no injuries were sighted or reported, unless it was the group of boys bending their elbows at The Merchant on Grove street—if you think training ends when we leave the pitch, you’d be mistaken—to be in proper football form, not only must we exercise, run, dribble, pass and shoot, but we must also put the pints down in preparation for the season.
Seriously though, we did have a good session and expect to continue as we form up into a proper team. Bring your monies next week—I’ll have forms for everyone to complete as he league will require all paperwork to be submitted shortly—

Some key points for all to keep in mind:
-Bring light and dark jerseys—else half of us will end up as skins and the other half will be horrified.

-Training next week is Wednesday August 2nd, 2006 at 8pm—same place

-Bring water and bug spray for your own sake

-If you need a ride to the park, a couple of cars will pick up (and drop off) at Grove Street Path at 7:45pm—

-We do make it a point to have a few pints, even if its bud light, after training—and the Merchant appears to have happy hour prices all night on Wednesday, so come on out!

-if you intend to play with the team this season, and in order to get you registered, we need club fees-- $150 cash or check either to GSSL or to Juan Hidalgo—whatever floats your boat.

-Once season schedule comes out, we’d like to have a social the Friday before our first game—as we are all older and grizzled, wives and SOs will be more than welcome.

-Know anyone else who may enjoy the kick around or even be looking to join a team this season? Bring them out.

JCFC Then and Now.

The squad during the 2004-05 season...
The 2001-02 squad--The A Team...
The 2001-02 squad: The Reserves....
The original squad in '99...

The Club Today...

JCFC was based in Jersey City from its inception as the majority of players lived and drank in the downtown area for years. Time has passed and only a few remain in JC--we are looking for a new home--as long as there are fresh pints to be pulled near by.

We look to sign up 20 commited players (including those who will return--so far we have 8 returning players.)

In our previous iteration we trained once, sometimes twice a week. we recognize as life goes on, committing to football 2x a week with wifes, babies and jobs is not doable.

Most importantly we look to find some new members for the club--members that appreciate a good pint of lager after games and training, members who appreciate football--our membership in the past has been very diverse--English, Welsh, Irish, Argentinians, Bolivians, Colombians, French, Italians, one Scott and one guy who changed his flag depending on who was winning that week--and Americans of course--many americans. Our playing style was traditional english football, but over the past two years we've changed as our forwards can no longer keep up with the long ball.

We look to expand and make new friends on and off the pitch, as what sport at our age really is about, is about camaraderie and an excuse to get out of the house.. excercise is a good bonus. But the pints.. ah.. the pints.

so if you're interested... drop us a line at jcfc06@gmail.com

Welcome to JCFC, the premiere adult soccer club of Jersey City.

Founded by Paul Grigg and Chris Levendos in 1999, the club spent six years competing in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League, winning most of the time and even earning the Fair Play cup one year. In 2005, JCFC changed leagues and joined the Garden State Soccer League.

If you are interested in playing with us, we are looking for Over 30's players who can commit to one training session per week in Jersey City or elsewhere in Central Jersey and to make themselves regularly available on Sundays for a league match.
